The self propelled model allows the user to move themselves by pushing on the rims surrounding the tyres of the chair. Whilst a lot of users may not be able to push themselves a great distance the capability allows them to change the direction of the chair independently. Due to the size of the wheels, this type of chair is generally heavier than a transit style chair.

The seat upholstery and pads are treated with Aegis microbe shield, to reduce stains and odour.
